Master Bond EP15 High Tensile Strength One Component Epoxy
Categories: Polymer; Thermoset; Epoxy

Material Notes: Key Features:
  • Go-to” material for use in ASTM C633 testing applications
  • Exceptionally high tensile strength
  • Excellent dimensional stability
  • Low shrinkage upon cure
Product Description: Master Bond Polymer System EP15 is a one component, heat curing epoxy featuring high tensile strength utilized in testing the adhesion and/or cohesive strength of flame sprayed coatings. This standard test is fully detailed in ASTM specification C633. EP15 is formulated to cure at temperatures from 300-350°F for 60-90 minutes. Upon cure, EP15 has a tensile strength well in excess of 12,000 psi. EP15 forms rigid and dimensionally stable bonds with minimal shrinkage upon cure. It is 100% reactive and does not contain any solvents or diluents. Its service temperature range is -60°F to +250°F. As a one component epoxy, Master Bond Polymer System EP15 is easy to handle as it does not require mixing prior to use and has an unlimited working life at room temperature. It bonds well to a wide variety of substrates, but most pertinent is its exceptionally good adhesion to metals and ceramics especially those that are flame-sprayed. The standard color of the epoxy is tan. Although primarily used in the flame sprayed coating test, EP15 can also be utilized in any bonding application where high tensile strength is a prerequisite. It is generally accepted that the liquid version of the epoxy is preferable when dealing with ceramic substrates while the paste version, called EP15ND-2, is preferable for metallic substrates.

Product Advantages:

  • Single component system; no mixing prior to use
  • Unlimited working life at room temperature
  • Easy application; contact pressure only required during heat cure
  • Exceptionally high tensile strength well exceeding 12,000 psi
  • 100% reactive; contains no solvents or volatiles
  • Bonds well to a wide range of substrates, especially flame-sprayed coatings
  • Very low shrinkage upon cure
  • Excellent dimensional stability
  • Specifically designed for testing under ASTM specification C633
