Ensinger PEI
Eastman E6838-997F Polyethylene  (discontinued **)
Categories: Polymer; Thermoplastic; Polyethylene (PE); Low Density (LDPE)

Material Notes: E6838-997F natural is a low density formulation with no slip or antiblock. Outstanding optical properties make this material an excellent choice for calendering and as a clarity filler in co-extruded applications.

List of Applications:

  • Food-contact applications

E6838-997F meets the requirements of FDA regulations at 21 CFR 177.1520(c)(2.2) and may be used as a component of packages used for holding food during cooking. However, the polymer thickness in the form in which it contacts food shall not exceed 0.005 inches and contact is limited to non-alcoholic food because of a regulatory limitation for an adjuvant substance in this formulation.

Information supplied by the manufacturer.

Information from manufacturer data sheet.

Eastman Chemical Company sold its polyethylene business to Westlake Chemical Corporation in Dec. 2006. This grade no longer appears in the Westlake product line.
