Specialty Compounds RTP Company
Solvay VTF 242FRB
Categories: Polymer; Thermoset

Material Notes: Description: VTF242FRB standard surfacing materials are formatted to ensure a high quality and fault-free surface finish on oven vacuum bagging or autoclave molded components. VTF242FRB is a controlled flow matrix suitable only for surface plies, but it is designed for compatibility with resin matrices used for rapid lay-up and bulk-ply materials. Typically it will be used with ZPREG®244FRB or VTM®244FRB bulk plies, but it is also possible to co-cure with reinforcements impregnated with other resin materices. VTF242FRB is supplied with pre-selected lightweight glass or carbon reinforcements and produces a ready to paint finish in application which require resistance to high temperature paint drying processes or to in-service temperatures up to 160°C (32°F)

Features & Benefits:

  • 7 days out life at 21°C(70°F)
  • 12 months storage at -18°C (0°F)
  • Flexible cure between 65 and 180°C (149 and 356°F)
  • High quality surface finish after vacuum only cure
  • Flame retarded
  • Maximum Tg of 177°C (350°F) following suitable post-cure
  • Excellent tack and drape for easy lay-up of large complex shapes
  • Service temperature of 160°C (320°F) following suitable post-cure
