Master Bond MasterSil 970-LO Silicone
Categories: Polymer; Adhesive; Thermoset; Silicone

Material Notes: Key Features:
  • Meets ASTM E595 specifications
  • Convenient handling
  • Superb physical and electrical properties
  • Low shrinkage upon curing
  • White color
  • High flexibility
Product Description: Master Bond MasterSil 970-LO is a two component, moderate viscosity silicone for high performance bonding, sealing, coating and encapsulating. First and foremost is that it fully passes NASA low outgassing test requirements. Since it is an addition cured system, it does not require air for cross-linking and can cure in thick sections well beyond 1 inch. The mix ratio is a user friendly one to one by weight. Upon mixing, the exothermic is very low and the working life is very long (for a 100 gram mass, about 8-12 hours). It is a moderate viscosity type silicone with excellent flow properties. The cure schedule is straightforward, 4-6 hours at 150°F or 2-3 hours at 180-200°F. Upon curing, MasterSil 970-LO has robust physical strength and electrical insulation properties. Its lap shear strength, tensile strength and elongation profile exceed the typical values normally reached with this type of curing system (see table below). It withstands the most rigorous types of thermal cycling and shock. Also, it has stellar electrical insulation properties and is ideal for potting and encapsulation applications. MasterSil 970-LO bonds well to a wide variety of substrates, including metals, composites, glass, ceramics as well as many types of rubber and plastics. MasterSil 970-LO is a first rate adhesive and since it is an addition cured system, it can be used for bonding larger pieces. The system is 100% solids and its color is white. The service temperature ranges from -120°F to +400°F. MasterSil 970-LO is part of a unique group of two part silicones in that it meets low outgassing certifications. It can be used in the most challenging types of situations in the aerospace, electronic, optical and specialty OEM industries particularly when vacuum compatibility and flexibility are required properties.

Product Advantages:

  • Convenient handling: one to one mix ratio by weight.
  • Long working life, moderate viscosity with good flow
