Domite® Laminated Wear Plate
Categories: Metal; Ferrous Metal; Cast Iron; White Cast Iron

Material Notes: Domite® is a white iron metallurgically bonded to a mild steel backing plate, creating a unique material with very high wear resistance and the ductility, toughness, and weldability of mild steel. The cast white iron conforms to ASTM A532 Class II Type B. White Iron is very brittle, exhibiting very little ductility, so tensile and impact tests are not usually a part of the ASTM specification for white iron. This material is normally specified to a hardness criterion. It responds to heat treatment and can be through hardened to a minimum 656 HB or softened to 400 HB for machining and then rehardened. The as cast, heat treated microstructure is uniform throughout with discrete vs. interconnected carbides. It is magnetic.

Applications: wear plates and lip protectors on front-end loaders, transition sections, set bolt protectors, liner plates, crusher hoppers, dump hoppers, vibratory feeders, and conveyor skirt boards.

Information is provided by the manufacturer, Domite Wear Technology Inc.
