Kennametal Stellite Stoody® 6 Cobalt-Base Cast Alloy
Categories: Metal; Nonferrous Metal; Cobalt Alloy; Superalloy

Material Notes: Stood® 6 is a cobalt-base alloy with high abrasion, corrosion, and elevated temperature wear resistance. Its wear resistance is in a class ordinarily associated with hard metals. Chief differences between Stood 6 and Stood 1 is a lower proportion of tungsten and carbon. Abrasion resistance is somewhat decreased, while impact strength is increased.

This alloy is recommended for applications involving resistance to room and high temperature abrasive action, galling in metal to metal wear, and a moderate degree of impact, thermal shock or stress loading. Typical uses of Stood 6 are bearings, for pumps, saran extruder cylinder liners, pivot bearings, and forming dies. Stood 6 with minor modifications can be manufactured to conform to Military Specification MIL-C-15345G, Alloy 20, and MIL-C-24248 (ships), Composition I.
