Wacker Silres® BS 26 A Silicone Water Repellent
Categories: Polymer; Thermoset; Silicone

Material Notes: Product description: SILRES® BS 26 A is a stable, emulsion of silane, siloxane and organic polymer. When reduced with water it forms a stable, penetrating water and stain repellent emulsion for treating a wide variety of mineral substrates including concrete, natural stone and unglazed tile. SILRES® BS 26 A is not recommended for below grade applications where hydrostatic pressure can be significant.

Special features: SILRES® BS 26 A provides excellent water repellency to reduce cracking, spalling, freeze/thaw damage chemical degradation, biological growth, efflorescence, and dirt pick-up, thereby lengthening substrate life and reducing maintenance costs.

  • Provides good oil repellency resisting staining for improved aesthetics
  • Provides excellent beading
  • Makes oil and grease easier to remove from treated surfaces decreasing maintenance requirements
  • Superior storage stability including freeze/thaw stability
  • Formulated to minimize darkening effects, not changing substrate appearances
  • Good compatibility on highly alkaline surfaces for long term durability
  • Physically and chemically bonds to substrates increasing lifespan and making cleaning easier; reducing maintenance costs
  • UV stable
  • Resistant to biological contamination
  • Substrates remain vapor permeable to resist cracking; resulting in a stronger, longer lasting substrate
Application: SILRES® BS 26 A should be blended with clean, deionized water, at a ratio ranging from 1:4 to 1:9. The SILRES® BS 26 A: water blend can be applied by brush, cloth or spray. Spray application must be limited to low pressure applicators such as garden or hand-pump type sprayers. Do not atomize this product. Spray using garden sprayer or pump spray (Not for Aerosol applications). Two applications are recommended and must be applied wet-on-wet; second coat must be applied before the first coat has dried. Stain resistance begins to develop within 24 hours and is complete within one week. Beading generally improves over time. A test patch should be performed prior to general application to ensure that the desired finished properties, including appearance, are achieved. It is advisable to test the product on an inconspicuous area.
