Master Bond EP62-1LPSPMed Two component, high performance epoxy system
Categories: Polymer; Thermoset; Epoxy; Epoxy Adhesive

Material Notes: Key Features:
  • Exceptionally low viscosity
  • Very long open time at room temperature
  • Passes USP Class VI and ISO 10993-5 requirements
  • Capable of resisting repeated sterilization
Master Bond EP62-1LPSPMed is an ultra low viscosity, two part epoxy that passes biocompatibility testing. It has a forgiving mix ratio of 100 to 25 by weight. Upon mixing, the viscosity is markedly low and the working life is impressively long, 12-24 hours at room temperature. There are many curing options for EP62-1LPSPMed. The basic cure starts at room temperature overnight, followed by 3 options involving heat. First is heating for 8-10 hours at 60-70°C. Other options include 60-90 minutes at 80-100°C or 30-60 minutes at 125°C. Post curing at 100-150°C for 3-4 hours will help optimize properties. EP62-1LPSPMed blends an array of attractive physical strength properties and reliable electrical insulation values. It bonds well to a wide variety of substrates including metals, composites, glass and many plastics. It is cryogenically serviceable and has good heat resistance, with a temperature range extending from 4K to +400°F. EP62-1LPSPMed offers superior resistance to EtO, radiation, chemical sterilization media and autoclaving. It can be used for both reusable and disposable medical devices. In very thin sections, this system will transmit light, but in thicker ones, it is opaque. Also, its low viscosity makes it useful for smaller potting and encapsulating applications. An extra benefit of using EP62-1LPSPMed, is that the system has good toughness. This translates to enhanced ability to withstand thermal cycling, mechanical shock and vibration. The product property profile, especially its low viscosity and long working life, make it a very special type of biocompatible epoxy for medical device applications.

Product Advantages:

  • Easy to use, very forgiving 100 to 25 mix ratio by weight
  • Extremely low viscosity and very long working life
  • Superior resistance to a wide variety of sterilants
  • Excellent toughness, will resist thermal cycling
  • Highly useful electrical insulation properties
  • Cryogenically serviceable
