Evonik VESTAMID® Terra DS1601 nc Nylon  (discontinued **)
Categories: Polymer; Renewable/Recycled Polymer; Thermoplastic; Nylon (Polyamide PA)

Material Notes: Low viscosity polyamide 1010. VESTAMID® Terra DS1601 nc is a low viscosity, semi-crystalline polyamide 1010 polymer. It has a low water absorption. As a result its mechanical properties vary little when exposed to changing environmental humidity, and the material features high dimension stability.
VESTAMID® Terra DS1601 nc can be used to manufacture mono- or multifilaments for a variety of textile applications. A specific characteristic allows for a high color dyeability and color fastness, whereas the crystallinity effectuate a high abrasion resistance that can be advantageous for some applications. The high melting point of VESTAMID® Terra DS1601 nc compounds results in a high heat deflection temperature. VESTAMID® Terra DS1601 nc is supplied as cylindrical granules, ready for processing in moisture-proof packaging. VESTAMID® Terra is a group of new polyamides, the monomers for which are based entirely or partly on renewable raw materials. VESTAMID® Terra DS is the polycondensation product of 1,10-decamethylene diamine (D) and 1,10-decanedioic acid (sebacic acid-S). Because both monomers are extracted from castor oil. VESTAMID® Terra DS is based on natural, renewable resources up to 100%.
