Poly(3-alkylthiophene)s exhibit thermo- and solvatochromism. Regiorandom poly(3-octylthiophene) shows relatively weak red PL in dilute solution. The emission is largely quenched in concentrated solutions and solid thin films.1:1 (head-to-head):(head-to-tail) linkages of regioisomers. Applications: P3OT forms a nanocomposite with carbon nanotubes (CNTs) for devising a high performance semiconducting material. It can also be used as a p-conjugating polymer for the fabrication of organic electronic based devices which include polymeric diodes, solar cells and photovoltaic modules. Molecular Formula: (C12H18S)n IUPAC Name: 3-octylthiophene Synonyms: P3OT SMILES: CCCCCCCCC1=CSC=C1 InChI=1S/C12H20S/c1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-12-9-10-13-11-12/h9-11H,2-8H2,1H3; InChiKey = WQYWXQCOYRZFAV-UHFFFAOYSA-N Alfa Chemistry Materials product group: Polymer/Macromolecule Manufacturer data sheet |
