Master Bond EP40Med Two component, room temperature curing epoxy
Categories: Polymer; Thermoset; Epoxy; Epoxy Adhesive

Material Notes: Key Features:
  • Convenient handling
  • Long open time
  • Good bond strength in shear and peel
  • Exceptional adhesion to polycarbonates and acrylics
Master Bond EP40Med is a two part, room temperature curing epoxy for bonding, sealing, coating and encapsulating. This low to moderate viscosity system has a forgiving 1 to 1 mix ratio by weight or volume. It is formulated to cure readily at ambient temperatures or more rapidly at elevated temperatures. The optimum curing schedule is overnight at room temperature followed by 2-3 hours at 120°F to 150°F. EP40Med is 100% reactive and contains no solvents or diluents. EP40Med bonds well to a variety of substrates including metals, ceramics, composites and plastics. Its forte is adhesion to engineered plastics such as polycarbonates and acrylics. EP40Med is inherently tough and can withstand intense thermal cycling and shock. EP40Med cures firm, but is inherently tough and flexible. It can withstand intense thermal cycling and shock. Also, it is a reliable electrical insulator. This combined with its low viscosity and low exotherm enables it to be utilized as a potting and encapsulating system. It can resist various kinds of sterilization including EtO, gamma, and other liquid disinfectants. The color of Part A is clear and Part B is amber. The service temperature range is -80°F to +250°F. EP40Med is a highly desirable system for medical device manufacturing and repair. It can be used in both disposable and reusable instruments. It is most desirable in applications where toughness and flexibility along with good structural adhesive properties are needed.

Product Advantages:

  • One to one mix ratio by weight or volume
  • Relatively long open time
  • Good lap shear and exceptionally high peel strength
  • Very high elongation
  • Special affinity for polycarbonates and acrylics
  • Meets the ISO 10993-5 specification
