Holmium has the highest magnetic strength of any element, and therefore is used to create the strongest artificially generated magnetic fields. Since it can absorb nuclear fission-bred neutrons, it is also used as a burnable poison to regulate nuclear reactors. It is one of the colorants used for cubic zirconia and glass, providing yellow or red coloring. Applications: Holmium Hydrate, has specialized uses in ceramics, glass, phosphors and metal halide lamp, and catalyst. Solubility: Insoluble in water, moderately soluble in strong mineral acids Molecular Formula: Ho(OH)3.xH2O Alfa Chemistry Materials product group: Metal Manufacturer data sheet |
