Characteristics:

  • Ductile
  • Mechanical Properties similar to titanium and austenitic stainless steel
  • Excellent corrosion resistance
  • Transparent to thermal energy neutrons.
  • Forms adherent, refractory double-oxide layer above 650°C
  • Highly anisotropic, undergoes allotropic transormation from hcp-structured alpha phase to bcc-structured beta phase at 870°C
