Materia Proxima® HPR 2012 Polydicyclopentadiene Thermoset Resin
Categories: Polymer; Thermoset; Polydicyclopentadiene (PDCPD)

Material Notes: Proxima HPR 2012 is a general purpase olefin thermoset resin that offers a good balance of thermal and mechanical properties. It is supplied as an ultra-low viscosity liquid.

Proxima® HPR High Performance Resins are designed to deliver the right combination of thermal and mechanical properties, in an easy to process system. Proxima® HPR resins offer better thermal stability than standard thermoplastics and better wear resistance than typical compression-molded thermosets, while delivering corrosion resistance, good machinability, a wide use-temperature range, and ease of fabrication.

Proxima® HPR resins are two-part liquid thermosetting systems created with proprietary blends of dicyclopentadiene (DCPD) and other norbornene monomers which are thermally activated by Grubbs Catalyst® technology. Proxima® HPR resins are specially designed to have a low viscosity for fast and easy mold fill. As a result, Proxima® resins can be processed by most standard thermoset processing techniques such as mold-casting, spin-casting, reaction-injection molding, and coating.
