LyondellBasell Aquathene® FR409800 Polyethylene Wire and Cable Compound
Categories: Polymer; Thermoplastic; Polyethylene (PE); High Density (HDPE); High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), Crosslinkable (XLPE)

Material Notes: Applications
AQUATHENE FR 4098-00 is a colorable flame retardant masterbatch designed specifically for moisture cure applications. When FR 4098-00 is combined with AQ 120-000 and CM 04482 in the correct ratio this formulation is suitable for use in 600-V power cable and control cable applications where UL44 horizontal flame rating and 90°C service in wet locations are required. When melt blended using 30 wt.% FR 4098-00, 5 wt.% CM 04482 and 65 wt.% AQ 120-000, this formulation is designed to meet the following UL requirements: SIS, XHHW, XHHW-2, RHH, RHW, and RHW-2.

Processing
The moisture curable system of FR 4098-00, CM 04882 and AQ 120-000 can be extruded as wires and cable insulation using a conventional extruder. The total system, FR 4098-00, CM 04482 and AQ 120-000, crosslinks after the materials are mixed during extrusion and subsequently exposed to moisture. Crosslinking can be achieved by exposure to steam, immersion in water or storage at ambient conditions.

This product is from the former Equistar product line.
