Chevron Phillips K-Resin® XK41 Styrene-Butadiene Copolymer, Sheet Grade  (discontinued **)
Categories: Polymer; Thermoplastic; Styrene-Butadiene; Styrene-Butadiene Copolymer, SBC

Material Notes: Styrene-Butadiene Copolymer

Customer Benefits: XK41 is an extrusion grade of K-Resin SB copolymer designed specifically for improved performance in blends with general purpose polystyrene. It is easily processed by extrusion and gives thermoformed parts with excellent detail on fast production cycles. Compared to KR05, XK41 offers greater polystyrene acceptance with equivalent processability. Thermoformed parts have very good clarity, very good toughness, and good stiffness.

Applications: Major applications include thermoformed blister packs, cups and lids, and portion packages.

Processing Recommendations:
Melt Temperature: 218°C maximum. High shear and restrictive type screws tend to degrade the melt. Generally no need to dry resin.

Specification Data: When combined with at least 8% food grade polystyrene to produce articles for food contact, XK41 complies with FDA Regulation 21 CFR 177.1640.

Data provided by Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP.

Ineos Styrolution acquired the K-Resin® product line from Chevron Phillips Chemical Company in 2016. This grade was previously discontinued.
